Welcome eBook lovers everywhere!

UPDATE: All eBook sites listed here are compatible with all eReaders!

If you have an iPad, Kindle, Nook, iPhone, iPod touch, Kobo or anything in between, and you are looking for eBooks, you have come to the right place.

Things have certainly changed in this day and age. Our fast paced world has opened the door to an instant gratification super highway. Giving us access to information only available in the library or in a book store for that matter. I remember a time where I actually had to go to the library to read books or get information on my favorite subjects. What a pain! Now all I have to do is go to my favorite website and download eBooks till the cows come home!

when I was a little girl, taking a trip to the library with my parents was a big deal for me. From the smell of the books, and the newspapers hanging from wooden sticks, to the daunting card catalog, and the smug librarian. It all added up to a unique experience.

It's hard to imagine 15 years ago this was just how things were. Tablet PC's, iPads, iPhones, and the like were not even a sparkle in Steve Jobs' eye. Yet somehow the world kept turning, and technology kept moving toward eBook euphoria.

Kindle Books

Hi my name is Denise,

Fast forward to today, and there are literally thousands of websites offering iBooks or eBooks for your ebook reader. But how do you know which service is right for you without breaking the bank? Well simply put, you don't. With all these sites out there it would be impossible to test each service, but I have put together some guidelines that will help you with your decision.

Rule #1: Make sure there is a money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, there needs to be a way to get a full refund within a reasonable amount of time.

Rule #2: Consider a service that allows you to download directly to your device, so you don't have to worry about using third party software like iTunes or Zen media library to get your iBooks to your device.

Rule #3: Technical support. If you have problems or questions who will you call? This is an important one.

Rule #4: Ease of use, I cannot tell you how many times I have tested an iBooks or eBooks bookstore when at some point I was left thinking, "ok... now how do I download it?"

Rule #5: Make sure the service is compatible with other eReaders and smartphones. I cannot stress this one enough. In order to get maximum value, consider one that is compatible with other devices.

I am sure you will come across one or two of these sites in your search for the perfect iBooks bookstore, and if you follow the simple guidelines listed in this article, I guarantee your reading experience will be satisfactory.

I found quite a few websites that offer eBook downloads, and I have listed them according to their quality and user feedback over the past 2 years. Below you will find my reviews:

UPDATE: With most of the other ebook membership sites closed down.  The best bet for cheap eBooks is good ol Amazon, or check out Ebook-Services below for a large selection of free ebooks.

The Amazon Kindle App.  The Kindle app is optimized for downloading books to your computer and then transferring them to your kindle.  providing users the ability to read Kindle books using an easy-to-use interface.

This webpage sort of impressed me initially, because it was fairly easy to use, and it seemed to have quite a few of the books on our test list.  It worked flawlessly, helping me add tons of books to my kindle. The only drawback was the price of each book.

Hey Folks,  Here at iBooks-r-us, I want our visitors to download the most eBooks for their hard earned cash.  So I wanted to bring the following site to your attention.  Ebook-services.com is a new eBook service site on the net, that offers Free eBooks.  Yes, you read that right, I said FREE eBooks.  The books are in ePub format, so they will work with your iPad, Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or any eBook reader that uses that format.  It even works with any personal computer.   However, I must tell you there is a small catch, which I will discuss in the review after the jump

UPDATE The Reading Site has closed. The Reading Site is not really an app or software.  It’s a membership website with a huge download service allowing users to access thousands of novels, newspapers, comic books, and even satellite TV from one source, for one low price, FOREVER.  All quickly available to your tablet or smart phone from an easy to use web interface.  All books are in the universal epub format, so compatibility is not an issue.

Rather than having to face the pain of paying $15 to $20.00 per book on iTunes, Amazon, or any other online service.  I was able to access and download thousands of texts from the comfort of my very own home, directly to my eReader for one upfront inexpensive payment.  I mean, even if I find only a few books I was looking for, the return on investment was worth it in my opinion.

This services is compatible with Android, iPad, Kindle, Nook, iPhone, iPod, or any other eReader for that matter.  Click the red button to the right to visit The Reading Site, or continue with my review below. Continue reading »

Books for Android

UPDATE: In the short time I have had this review up, I was contacted by the owners of the Droid Library.  They are offering a limited time coupon for $20 off membership.  Click here to get access to this exclusive deal.  Hurry it wont last long!

Hello again everyone!  I’m back with another review.  This time, I review a membership site for all the Android or “Droid” users out there.  I recently ditched my iPhone in favor of the HTC EVO 3d, and I must say, I am really happy with my decision to switch.  For an old gal, I feel like I am pretty technology savvy, and a dual core 1ghz processor in a phone puts me on cloud nine!  3d video and still pictures is so cool as too!

Anyway, enough about the phone.  Lets talk about the website, shall we?  One thing I found annoying is there was no specific e-book membership sites for Android devices.  I searched and searched, only to find there was no Android ebooks love.  But, after quite a bit of “googling” I found one, and its an excellent one at that.  I came across this website while looking for a protective cover for my evo, and was pleasantly surprised.

Ahh yes, every iDevice owners favorite piece of software. iTunes!

Now its really hard to compare iTunes with the other sites listed here on this review page because… well simply put, most small businesses don’t have the money and manpower to build and maintain such a huge piece of software.  You would think, with all that money and manpower, the software should be a lot better.  Allow me to explain. Looking for downloads for your new Apple iPad? Well, you’re not the only person. The Apple iPad is one of the hottest gadgets out at the moment and has the ability to display eBooks and more in wonderful high-definition quality. Unfortunately, it can be very costly to fill it up with multimedia, and with each digital book costing around $12, it can all add up.

However there is a solution! myPadMedia is a new site which allows iPad owners to download hundreds of eBooks, Comic Books and more directly to the iPad! No limits, no delays, and no expensive bill at the end of the month!

Your Pad Center

As more and more eBook services come online, I want to review them as quickly and extensively as possible.

This service was no exception. Immediately we delved into the ins and outs. I knew this service was similar to The Novel Network, but I wanted to find out if it actually was better. Right off the bat I noticed the website was fairly nice, but lacked the luster of the Novel Network. That being said I was determined to give it a fair review.

One thing that struck me as kind of nice was offering a 1 month membership and a lifetime membership. However, the price for a 1 month membership was ridiculous at $39.95, when you could get the lifetime membership for 10 dollars more.

eReadersLibrary_review

UPDATE 2/8/12: eReadersLibrary.com Has closed its virtual doors. I have tried to get in contact with the owners, but was unable to do so. I am going to move it down the list and eventually off of my reviews all together.

I came across what used to be ePadLibrary.com when I was looking for a protective skin for my Kindle. I liked the initial look and feel of the website. It was well laid out, so I thought what the heck, lets try it.  I found most of the books in our test list very quickly.  Using the well laid out tutorials and free tools that only members get, makes it easy to transfer your existing eBooks to your device, or download directly.  Combine these things with an ever expanding database of eBooks and we have our selves a winner!  You will be glad to know the service also tested well with the Nook and iPad too.  Read on for more info!

padbro

*Update* PadBro has closed its virtual doors.

PadBro provide books in all sorts of genres including fiction, non-fiction, crime, mystery, romance, and more.  They claim to provide basically the same services as the other websites listed here, but as you will see, falls short in several ways.

I stumbled upon PadBro.com while I was searching Google looking for apps to compare to the other services listed on this site.  Being that the iPad and ebooks in general, are so new, you can imagine there are few services to compare. Continue reading »
